The KMTC 10th Stakeholders Connect Meet, held in association with the Institute of Cooperative Management Thiruvananthapuram, on 19th July 2024, commenced at 10 AM slightly later than planned. The session featured notable addresses from key dignitaries. Mr. Sasikumar M. V. welcomed attendees, emphasizing the role of cooperatives in transforming the MSME sector. Mr. C Padmakumar outlined KMTC’s vision of establishing Kerala as India’s Medical Devices Hub and discussed collaborations aimed at advancing medical devices using natural rubber. Mr. A P M Mohammed Hanish IAS supported KMTC’s efforts, stressing inter-departmental coordination for project success. Special addresses were given by Dr. Joseph Benaven of IMA and Mr. Santhosh Kumar of Harrisons Malayalam Limited, highlighting the involvement of doctors in device development and the company’s commitment to innovative, sustainable rubber products. Advocate Sony Sebastian endorsed the initiative for rubber cooperatives, emphasizing benefits to farmers, while Dr. Jayamohan Nair concluded with the Vote of Thanks.

The meet included expert sessions and panel discussions on various aspects of rubber-based medical devices. Experts from SCTIMST, Harrisons Malayalam Limited, Kerala Rubber Limited, and the Rubber Research Institute of India shared insights into medical device applications, innovations in latex technology, and the development and manufacturing of rubber-based products. Panel discussions provided an interactive platform for exploring opportunities and challenges in the MedTech sector.
