Advancing the Kerala–UAE MedTech Partnership | Trivandrum Roundtable Highlights

Building on the momentum of the World MedTech Confluence 2025 (Dubai), the Kerala Medical Technology Consortium (KMTC), in collaboration with KSIDC and Startup Middle East, convened a high-level Trivandrum MedTech Roundtable on 13 December 2025 to translate strategic intent into actionable outcomes.

The roundtable brought together MedTech manufacturers, startups, clinicians, academic leaders, investors, and policy stakeholders from Kerala and the UAE/GCC, reaffirming the strong alignment between Kerala’s strengths in R&D, clinical validation, and manufacturing and the UAE’s leadership in investment, market access, and healthcare infrastructure.

Key focus areas included:

• Operationalising the World MedTech Forum as a long-term collaboration platform
• Launching joint R&D, technology transfer, and pilot programs in early 2026
• Strengthening global partnerships, including engagement with Fogarty Innovation (USA)
• Developing a Kerala–UAE MedTech cluster roadmap covering manufacturing, validation, and market access
• Exploring investment pathways, growth capital, and talent exchange mechanisms

Discussions also addressed critical enablers such as regulatory alignment, clinical validation frameworks, after-sales service infrastructure in the GCC, and the collective promotion of “Global Quality, Engineered in Kerala.” A strong consensus emerged on the need to:

• Form a Kerala MedTech manufacturers’ association
• Establish predictable and time-bound clinical trial and validation pathways
• Create shared platforms for market access, branding, and after-sales support in the GCC
• Position Kerala not only as a startup hub, but as a globally competitive MedTech manufacturing and innovation base
