TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH IN MEDTECH – A KMTC INITIATIVE, 21 MARCH 2023

KMTC partnered with the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) and the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology, to organise a one-day Hands-On Workshop on Translational Research in MedTech.

The Workshop, which was held at the Achutha Menon Centre for Health Sciences Studies (AMCHSS), SCTIMST, on 21st March 2023, brought together over 100 senior researchers, students and faculty, from across the state from various institutes, universities involved in Translational or Applied Research in the complex domain of Medical Sciences and Medical Technology.

The Highlight of the workshop was the Key Note Address by Dr Harald Peter, Head of IVD-Platform / Point-of-Care Technologies, Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, Potsdam, Germany, who visited Kerala at the invitation of KMTC. Fraunhofer Society is the Institute that has pioneered the Industry, Government & Applied Research Collaborative approach to problem solving and innovation. With over 180 centres in 80 different specialised Institutes, Fraunhofer is an effective partner for the Industry growth in Germany and across the world.

Dr R Bindu, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, and Chairperson, Kerala State Higher Education Council, Government of Kerala inaugurated the workshop. Dr Rajan Gurukkal, Vice Chairman, KSHEC, Dr Saji Gopinath, Vice Chancellor, Digital University of Kerala, Prof Samir Kumar Brahmachari, renowned Biophysicist and former Director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Dr Sanjay Behari, well-known Neurosurgeon and Director, SCTIMST and Mr C Padmakumar, Special Officer, KMTC were also part of the Workshop and delivered their insights and inspired the participants to go above and beyond just academic research.
