The Kerala Pavilion at MEDICA 2024, the world’s leading MedTech trade fair, stood out as the only state-led booth from India, highlighting Kerala’s vibrant and dynamic MedTech ecosystem. As a hub of innovation and excellence, Kerala is already home to 85 companies, accounting for approximately 17% of India’s total medical device manufacturing. It also boasts a strong network of research and academic institutions, further solidifying its position as a leader in MedTech.
This marked Kerala’s third consecutive year of participation at MEDICA, successfully capturing the attention of global stakeholders and fostering meaningful discussions. These efforts have firmly positioned Kerala as a premier destination for MedTech innovation, research, and investment on the global stage.
A Collaborative Presence
The Kerala Medical Technology Consortium (KMTC), in partnership with the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and the Kerala Life Sciences Industries Park (KLIP), proudly represented the state at this landmark event. MEDICA 2024 underscored Kerala’s emergence as a hub for MedTech innovation, collaboration, and growth.
KMTC led strategic engagements with renowned international institutions, advancing partnerships in translational research and showcasing Kerala’s robust commitment to driving medical devices and MedTech innovation globally. These collaborations highlight the state’s ambition to enhance healthcare outcomes through cutting-edge technology.
Connecting with Global Stakeholders
Kerala’s delegation actively engaged with key stakeholders, emphasizing its significant contributions to India’s medical device manufacturing and its thriving In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) sector.
Key highlights included:
• Groundbreaking discussions with Hsinchu Science Park and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan, laying the groundwork for partnerships with Kerala-based medical device companies.
• Focused engagements with Danish.Care, representing over 180 Danish assistive technology companies, unlocking collaboration opportunities in welfare technology and aligning Kerala with global trends in healthcare innovation.
• Showcasing Kerala’s potential to global delegates from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the USA, and India, fostering meaningful connections and paving the way for future collaborations.
Expanding Opportunities Abroad
Strategic visits to prominent companies and research institutions across multiple countries enabled KMTC to explore opportunities in technology sharing, innovation, and investment partnerships. Kerala’s strong base of medical device manufacturers and research institutions further bolstered these engagements, positioning the state as a preferred partner in MedTech advancements.
