KMTC 12th Stakeholder Connect Meet – February 11, 2025

The KMTC 12th Stakeholder Connect Meet, held on February 11, 2025, at IIT Palakkad in association with TECHIN, brought together industry leaders, researchers, and healthcare experts to explore the future of MedTech. The event was inaugurated by Prof. A. Seshadri Sekhar, Director, IIT Palakkad, who highlighted the institute’s role in fostering MedTech innovation. Mr. C. Padmakumar, Special Officer, KMTC, emphasized the need for increased private-sector R&D investment to boost the MedTech ecosystem. Mr. Balagopal Chandrasekhar, Chairman, KSIDC, urged Indian medical device companies to expand into global markets, while Dr. R. Sathyajith, President, IMA Palakkad, stressed the importance of collaboration between clinicians and technology developers.

Key sessions featured insights into Kerala’s MedTech potential, IIT Palakkad’s innovation ecosystem, and cutting-edge medical technologies. SCTIMST showcased breakthroughs in bioink technology, while Jayon Implants shared its success in R&D-driven medical devices. KSUM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting MedTech startups, formalized through an MoU with IIT Palakkad, strengthening the innovation pipeline. A panel discussion led by Mr. Balagopal Chandrasekhar explored strategies to develop a MedTech cluster in Palakkad, focusing on regulatory support, funding, and industry-academia collaboration.

The event concluded with key takeaways, including the need for structured industry-academia partnerships, more investment in R&D, and regular engagement between stakeholders to drive innovation. KMTC reaffirmed its commitment to positioning Kerala as a leading MedTech hub, with a vision to establish a Medical Device Cluster in Palakkad. With 74 participants, the event provided a valuable platform for knowledge-sharing, networking, and strategic planning, reinforcing KMTC’s leadership in advancing MedTech in Kerala.
