DIA–KMTC MedTech Conference 2026 – Concept to Care: Safe, Smart, and Scalable MedTech
The DIA–KMTC MedTech Conference 2026, jointly organised by the Drug Information Association (DIA) and the Kerala Medical Technology Consortium (KMTC), was successfully held on 21–22 May 2026 at O by Tamara, Thiruvananthapuram.
Centered on the theme “Concept to Care – Safe, Smart, and Scalable MedTech”, the conference brought together regulators, industry leaders, clinicians, manufacturers, researchers, startups, investors, policymakers, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders to discuss the future of medical technology innovation, regulation, quality, manufacturing, and global market readiness.
With participation from leading national and international regulatory bodies, including the US FDA, MHRA UK, EMA, CDSCO, and global MedTech experts, the conference provided a unique platform for advancing dialogue on building safe, compliant, innovative, and globally competitive healthcare technologies.

The conference highlighted the critical capabilities required to translate innovative healthcare solutions from concept to clinical impact, with emphasis on:

The conference followed the complete MedTech innovation journey—from quality and regulatory readiness to manufacturing scale-up and global commercialization—providing participants with practical insights and actionable strategies.
Major Outcomes and Milestones
A key highlight of the conference was the formal launch of the Kerala Medical Device Industry Association (KMDIA), creating a dedicated platform for industry representation, collaboration, and sectoral growth within Kerala’s MedTech ecosystem.
The conference also showcased KMTC’s Hearing Aid Development Project, an important assistive technology initiative focused on developing affordable and high-quality hearing solutions through collaborative innovation.
Another significant feature was the World Café Session on “Breaking Barriers to Global MedTech Success,” which enabled structured discussions on regulatory challenges, clinical evidence generation, funding, talent development, manufacturing readiness, and global market access. The session generated valuable recommendations for future ecosystem development and collaborative action.
Strengthening Kerala’s Position in MedTech
The conference reinforced Kerala’s growing role as an emerging MedTech hub by bringing together healthcare institutions, research organisations, manufacturers, startups, regulators, investors, and policymakers under a common platform.
The event facilitated new partnerships, industry connections, investment discussions, research collaborations, and innovation opportunities, while strengthening the state’s visibility within India’s rapidly expanding MedTech landscape.
