KMTC 13th Stakeholder Connect Meet – July 17, 2025

The 13th KMTC Stakeholder Connect Meet, held on July 17, 2025, at the Biomedical Technology Wing of SCTIMST, Trivandrum, was organized by the Kerala Medical Technology Consortium (KMTC) in association with SCTIMST. Centered around the theme “Powering Kerala’s MedTech Future”, the meet brought together industry leaders, researchers, startups, clinicians, and policymakers to strengthen Kerala’s MedTech ecosystem.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sanjay Behari, Director, SCTIMST-BMT Wing, with special addresses from Mr. C. Padmakumar, Special Officer, KMTC, Mr. C. Balagopal, Chairman, KSIDC, and Mr. A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, Principal Secretary, Industries, Government of Kerala. A memorial tribute to Dr. M. S. Valiathan, SCTIMST’s founding director and a pioneer in Indian biomedical innovation, marked the occasion.

Technical sessions highlighted SCTIMST’s strengths in translational research, including innovations in biomaterials, deep brain stimulation, cardiovascular devices, and stroke rehabilitation technologies. SCTIMST’s incubation, IP, and regulatory support services were also showcased, reinforcing its role as a national MedTech leader. Brainstorming sessions generated fresh ideas in assistive devices and biomaterials, while patient-centered discussions emphasized public involvement in innovation (PPIE) and clinician-driven solutions in cardiology and neurosurgery.

The meet witnessed strong participation with 67 delegates, including representatives from 20 companies, and featured the largest product showcase so far. Feedback was highly positive, with an average satisfaction score of 4.23/5 and a Net Promoter Score of +43, underscoring the value of the sessions and collaborations initiated.

The 13th SCM reaffirmed KMTC’s role as a catalyst for Kerala’s MedTech growth, driving research-industry partnerships, reducing R&D costs, and accelerating commercialization to position the state as a globally competitive MedTech hub.
