Home . Central Laboratory for Instrumentation and Facilitation (CLIF)

The University of Kerala’s remarkable R&D contributions, evidenced through research publications in the SCOPUS database, led to its recognition as a performing institution by the Government of India. This distinction brought forth substantial research funding under the PURSE Scheme from the Department of Science & Technology during 2011-2016. Recognizing the crucial role of cutting-edge scientific instruments in advancing modern research, the university wisely utilized its Plan funds to construct a dedicated two-story building. This establishment, known as the Central Laboratory for Instrumentation and Facilitation (CLIF) at the Kariavattom campus, hosts a diverse range of state-of-the-art analytical instruments procured through the PURSE Scheme and other sources. CLIF, an exciting and novel initiative, stands as one of the university’s most significant research commitments to date. It aims to bolster the technological infrastructure for interdisciplinary research, offer expert guidance for data analysis, and provide training for the operation and maintenance of sophisticated instruments. Moreover, CLIF plans to enrich knowledge dissemination through short-term courses and workshops, focusing on the practical applications of various spectroscopic and analytical techniques. By serving students, teachers, and technical personnel from the university, affiliated institutions, other universities, and regional industries, CLIF truly embodies the university’s dedication to fostering innovation, collaboration, and cutting-edge research.
